The owners wanted it to be away from the sea and the populated areas so it can serve as a private, intimate and remote refuge. At the same time, they wanted to be in contact with nature and the landscape. To these requests the architects responded with a single level design for a structure that has a concrete shell and vast openings. It sits on a flat section of the site and it offers uninterrupted views of the surrounding landscape.

The owners of this house approached Bestor Architecture with the desire to ultimately be able to enjoy a private getaway outside of the city, a place where they could become closer to nature and to find the balance between modern design and organic simplicity. Their wishes came true. It’s cozy and humble but this charming retreat is designed to make the most of its location and to transform the views of the forest into a source of freshness of color for the interior decor. This is a retreat designed by Lang Architecture in Kerhonkson, 100 miles from New York.

Architect Guido Costantino wanted this two-storey modern residence in Ontario to be complemented by the views of its surroundings which become an important part of the interior designs thanks to the glazed walls. House Holman is an award-winning project by Durbach Block Architects. It’s a single-family home that stands on the edge of a cliff in Dover Heights, west of Sydney. The views of the ocean are breathtaking and they can be fully enjoyed from inside the house thanks to the full-height windows.

Usually the corner space in any room is wasted space and this may not be a big problem in the living room or bedroom but in the kitchen any inch of space is valuable. So take advantage of the corner space and install drawers or open shelves. If you want to keep the knives off the counter top and close at hand, you could have a custom-designed piece like this one. The knives are stored inside the counter top. Such a design comes with restrictions. The knives must be completely encased so the blades don;t interfere with the contents of the drawers. I find pullout shelves to be very practical. It’s usually very annoying to have to get a dish or a pan at the back of the shelf and this system makes things a lot easier. Pull-out spice racks are also very functional. They occupy very little space and they’re easy to use.

As you can see in the above image, a salvaged cabinet comes alive in the kitchen, giving it an interesting piece of furniture that could have been part of a living room in its previous life. By leaving salvaged items a little worn and torn, this further makes them unique creations in the kitchen, while preventing waste in the environment. Stone in the kitchen is always a great natural material, but you can also choose from stone countertops that are made from recycled materials. This takes the green initiative one step further. Stone can be trendy and colorful, as can be seen from the countertop in the above image that is made from recycled wine, beer and Vodka bottles.

If you’ve created a makeshift island, then create a makeshift cabinet by hanging them up underneath! Use a coat rack or another thrifted piece as a pot rack. Grab some metal or brass hooks and then situate the piece according to your need. You can create a wall for your pots too. Instead of just hooking up a rack, create something a bit unique. A chalkboard wall, with each pot’s outline will make an artistic spin on the usual organization. Section out a nook to keep the pots and pans hung and accessible but without them in view. Use a space underneath the island, breakfast counter or cabinets.

The minimalist glass doors also go great with bedrooms that already employ floor-to-ceiling glass windows to offer some great views; be it of the city skyline or the tranquil ocean. If you are not very fond of the colored glass doors, you can even use the mirrored wardrobe sliding doors that will reflect the many existing shades of your home.

So add the jazzy feels to the nursery or your own bedroom! We love a chunky chevron slapped onto vases too. Whether you add some fresh floral or use it for styling the coffee table, it’s fun, funky and trendy! Distressed or full of color, make your family photos even more adorable with this added pattern. From wall frames to the side table, the print will make it pop!
Advent Fournier Kitchen, 2017-09-07 11:39:35. Furniture on wheels introduces a very practical characteristic on elements such as the kitchen island which becomes portable and much easier to relocate according to the user’s immediate needs. This freedom and versatility is very important in the kitchen. Such designs allow you to simply move the island wherever you need it. Of course, you can also find a permanent spot for it the rest of the time. Portable kitchen islands are very practical when you have an open plan design. This way you can use them for a variety of purposes. A spacious kitchen can also greatly benefit from such a piece of furniture. This way you can always have a prep or counter space exactly where you need it.

This can create the perfect transition between two seemingly disparate spaces, if that’s what you need. If natural, earthy tones speak to you in general, then keep this look going in your bar stool choice. There are plenty of beautiful neutral bar stools out there…and you’ll know that, with its being neutral and all, you will love it in your home. Nothing blends in quite like acrylic, and bar stools made this way are no exception. This adds a sleek, contemporary, almost commercial feel to the bar space. Upholstered seats are, as a general rule, certainly more comfortable than their non-padded counterparts. But there are pros and cons when considering upholstery on a seat that sees more than its fair share of staining potential.
