There’s a small private courtyard in front, sort of like a buffer zone between the internal spaces and the street. The wood on the facade is stained and has a rich finish which contrasts with the galvanized steel elements. The North facade, the one facing the river, has a totally different structure. This is an all glass facade which doesn’t exactly give much privacy but, at the same time, exposes the internal spaces to the expansive views. The glass also contributes to an overall look that’s robust on one hand but also open and airy on the other hand. Such contrasts are actually quite common with this project.

Toilets don’t vary very much but by introducing a non-standard basin into your room’s design you can set the tone for the rest of the decor. If you find the right hand basin, that suits your tastes, it will be a good starting point for the rest of the design. White porcelain hand basins are perfectly fine, but they are ubiquitous. Consider another material instead. Wood, plastics and brushed metal are all very good alternatives. And if you decide that you want to stick to the classic porcelain basin, why not go for a more unusual shape to make it a bit more of a feature?

It has this very simple and appealing look and a well organized structure, with each of the three floors serving a specific function. The ground floor is a guest area, with an entrance lobby and other welcoming spaces. The first floor is where the main bedroom suite is situated and that leaves the second floor which houses the living, dining and kitchen area. On top of it all there’s also a roof garden and a glazed hatch that lets one access it.
Fleur Prevost Exterior, 2017-06-01 15:03:06. The window you see here is a cool feature that comes as a standard element for all container pools. It offers a view inside the pool and it lets light filter through the water. As far the aesthetics go, the standard color of the pools is black but those interested can also request a specific color. The pools can be installed both above and in-ground so a lot of details depend on the type you choose. Only two service connections are required when installing the pool: natural gas/propane for the heater and 40 amp electrical service and designated ground wire. The cost depends on the size of the pool and ranges between $26,900 and $35,000. The pools are customizable in a lot of ways and they also offer the option to control all the settings via smartphone using an app. This includes settings such as the temperature, the lighting and the jets. Costumers can also choose from a variety of different types of covers for their container pool, ranging from simple snap button models to electronically-controls covers that are also child-proof and retractable.
Fawnia Leroux Exterior, 2017-05-05 09:08:29. The idea of living in a fortress can sound pretty awesome. You’d definitely have plenty of privacy and security but how would such a structure have to look like so it could more or less fit in a usual urban or rural setting? An answer to this question can be the house designed by Anako Architecture along the Rhone in Switzerland. The project uses concrete as a primary material and the house looks a lot like what would be a modern and stylized version of a fortress. It has an unusual form which mimics the silhouettes of the Alps visible in the distance. Walls of raw concrete define the facade and set a border between the interior spaces and the surroundings.
Celesse Legrand Exterior, 2017-06-02 14:44:47. A beach house isn’t really complete without floor-to-ceiling windows or some other design strategy meant to connect it to the views. This house designed by Martin Gomez Arquitectos is a very good reflection of this idea. It’s located in Punta del Este, in Uruguay. In order to be able to frame these beautiful views, studio Element Arkitekter AS designed this house in Rogaland, Norway with a rather odd-looking top floor that’s partially cantilevers and resembles a periscope. Up here, a glazed wall overlooks the water and the land in the distance.

For a house that tries to close itself off as much as possible in respect to the street and the neighbors, this family home has surprisingly open spaces and facades. This unusual combination was achieved by moarqs + OTTOLENGHI architects by combining two contrasting materials: concrete and glass. The design strategy was to have a more open ground floor while the first floor is closed and private. Both floors have full-height glass walls but the difference is that there’s a concrete shell which wraps around the upper floor, framing the spaces and blocking the views but at the same time allowing them to be fully open to the courtyard.
